Yesterday I noticed a small spot of blood near the ear flap of my two-year old Tabby, Shiloh. It's not in the canal, but in front of it below the scalp. The blood's not dripping, and it looks like a scratch. The spot is still visible today, but she's as playful as ever, her appetite's good, etc. I'm tempted to get her to the vet ASAP, but I also think maybe I should wait a day or two to see if it totally dries up.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like she had one heck of an itch.
If it's a small scratch that has scabbed over, I wouldn't worry. If it seeps blood or re-opens, it'd bring her in just for a topical antibiotic so it doesn't get infected.
Also, if she hasn't been checked for mites, fleas, and ticks, you may want to consider it.

Possibly from scratching too vigorously, which might be due to fleas or earmites. Take a peek inside the ear; a vet visit may be warranted.
