I just picked up a boyfriend for my Argentine boa at the Oregon show. Currently my female is about 6 feet long. I'm not sure of her age, maybe 2 or 3? I'll have to ask the friend who gave her to me, next time I see him. She's 3-4" in diameter in her thickest part, eats medium to large rats easily.
How big should my female be before I mate the pair of them? I know she's not full grown, the male is longer, a bit thicker and has a larger head. If I wait until next year's breeding season, can I try to cohabitate them later this year to see if they can live together? When would it be safe (they wouldn't breed)?
TIA
Jennifer

I'm not an expert on Argentines, but I would say 3 years old is old enough for breeding?

She has to be older than 2... he's been single for over 2 years and the snake was originally his wife's. I'd guess at least 3.

That new boyfriend sure is a beeeyootiful snake.

I'm leaning more towards three, I just can't remember for sure. And I have no real concept of how fast boas grow, so I can't guess based on her size.

He sure is!!! I wish he was as light as Tina, she's got a touch of pink and prettier patterns, but he has such a sweet temperament. That young male for sale was almost a perfect match for Tina's color, but he sure had an attitude. :-)
Hey, if you hear of anyone with a big tank for sale (for cheap preferably, just shelled out $43K yesterday and the bank accounts are back to near-zilch) let me know. The poor male is crammed in a 40 for now, and he makes it look like a 10! I'm even thinking of getting a big iguana cage for them. They seem to like to climb. I was walking around the warehouse yesterday with the boy sitting on top of my head. :-P I think it'd be cool to have like a 4X6 cage with branches and multiple basking spots. They'd look soo pretty in a big setup!

It was scary how easy it was to put so much money into a little scrap of paper and hand it over.

I would, if I had the time. :-/
