I thought that New Dog would arrive in '04. I"m starting to consider waiting til '05. Maybe '06. I"m not getting any younger, and I'd like to eventually have fewer dogs.

I can certainly relate to the above in both wanting another, yet the whole not getting any younger. On one hand I think I am not getting any younger and my time is becoming limited to having dogs. OTOH, I think I am not getting any younger and should limit the dogs I have. A corgi breeder, I know told me a month ago, I bet you will have another corgi in less than a year. She could be right because both Steve and I are quite smitten with their cocky, fiesty, but clown like attitude.
I"m concerned that as I age, I won't be able to give them the kind of life I think they should have. Also, Kira takes a lot of time and energy. She's incredibly talented and driven, and I want to do right by her. Debbie

And I can certainly relate to that. And Blade having this surgery has not slowed him down at all. It is all we can do to keep him remotely calm. And he is now
stir crazy and we both feel so badly for him. Blade really has gotten a bum deal. At least I think so.

Poor guy. I can't imagine trying to keep Kira 'calm'. She just doesn't *do* calm!
Debbie
Blade doesn't do calm either. That is just
not in his vocabulary or mental capacity.
And now he is starting to have the look
of a "mad man" instead of Blademan!:( It really does tear at Steve and I.

Sounds like someone else I know & love...

Yup...me too, my two. They'd be a picnic for Debbie, though! Shelly & The Boys
I don't think Stafford has seen Kira work, it usually take me about 20 minutes to get ready after the beginner classes. I think he's seen Rush, though. Kira is Rush, x's 10. At least. :-)

I do love a ballsy dog.

Nope, definitely haven't.

Not sure...forgive me, but who is Rush?

The Border Terrier. Ugly little brown dog. You know, the one that I denied was mine while everyone at class pointed and laughed.

And I've told her in the past, "If you ever breed Tessa, I'd be interested..." She recently finished her AKC ... nice steady, calm & confident manner, and has to-die-for rock-solid temperament by the book standard temperament. (In other words, she's probably

A herding dog is not on my list as I don't want to do the whole sheep thing, BUT... There is a field near here that had some dusty blobs on it that I realized at some point were kind of moving sometimes. They were sheep! But that couldn't be since this was an unfenced area with busy streets on all sides. I parked across the street to watch the two dogs keeping the sheep in line and out of trouble and was absolutely amazed. I am certainly an admirer, having seen it all right before my eyes, though I still wouldn't want to actually have to deal with dogs like that and giving them their sheepie fixes.
