I have a female Canary that is about 13 years old, that has been by itself for the last six years or so. Prior to this it had a mate who died. I think it might be a bit lonely, and would like to get it a male friend. Do you think this is a good idea and what sort of things should I look out for, noting the age of the female bird. Could anyone give me some tips on what to look out for when purchasing this bird.
Thanks

I would not advise getting another bird because male canaries can be very aggressive, and she is too old to tolerate that.

The sort of thing I'd be looking out for would be a male canary that has his own Zimmer frame.
With kind regards
Chu

Is 13 "old" for a canary? When I was growing up a friend of my parents had a canary that lived until it was 20+. Or so they all claimed; maybe it kept on dying and being "reincarnated" :-)
