Charlie, There is a quote that stuck to me one day. I don't know who said it but it makes ... about things and really, really try to shut down anyone who comes around with an opinion that differs from theirs.

that's pure ***. if you were to pay careful attention, you'd notice that there are a whole lot of differing opinions on just about every topic under the sun. there is also a fair amount of serious dissent on certain topics. i'm not sure where the hivemind accusation is coming from, but it's untrue. (oh, and for the record, if you had bothered to Google for that thread about Leah's "new dog" you'd've seen that Charlie, as usual, is full of ***.)

I guess I am a sucker for trying to help out.

is that all you've taken away from this thread?
I hope that the owners do not share Shelly's point of view on the matter though.

what's that supposed to mean? if you're referring to repaying the dog's vet costs, if you reread my post, you'll see i stated that i would *gratefully* repay them if it were my dog. you cannot legally, nor IMO morally, try to make repayment a stipulation of the dog's return, though.
sheesh.

Does your behavior say "tramp"?
They all share the same opinion about things and really, really try to shut down anyone who comes around with an opinion that differs from theirs.()

Boy, is that a huge crock of crunchy crapola. Differing opinions are always welcome here,* provided that the one offering the opinion is at least somewhat knowledgeable regarding the topic, and is able to discuss it *intelligently* and with *respect for other opinions. But if a person just wants to drop out of the sky and basically derogate, insult, belittle, proselytize, etc. others, well, it'll probably get ugly very quickly.
And your point about all of us here (if you actually were referring to us) sharing the same opinion is laughable. Most regulars here usually can't even agree on the freakin' TIME, much less on how to train a dog, and that's probably a good thing. But the people who still insist on insulting someone's training method(s), breed(s), preferred dog sport(s), etc., will usually get exactly what they deserve a taste of their own medicine.

Yes, Leah. I remember when you found Murphy. Everyone patted you on the back for rescuing her,

Huh?? Uh, no. Not in my recollection. I wasn't even going to look for the owner because of her condition, and I was flamed to a crisp until I saw the error of my ways. :}
I'm glad at least Cymbaline was treated more civilly than I was in the same situation.
You and about three other people plonked

me over that.

Nope. I plonked you because you were being rude and crude. Seemed like you were only here to get your jollies by insulting and denigrating women.

However, if Charlie no longer does that and actually participates in discussions about dogs now, somebody let me know and I'll take him out of my killfile.

Sorry Cymbaline, not true for me anyway.
I have been here a long time and usually am in the minority on subjects, BUT I ALWAYS have my say.
I think that the dog should go to the shelter, and then you can adopt the dog LEGALLY.
