Actually the one I am having this guy build has a scratching post on one level, a condo on another level, and a perch on top. There will be a ramp for them as well where they can walk all the way up into the condo as well and if possible a way to collapse the tree for easy moving.

Kaeli asks:
Is yours wood?

The platforms are particle board or such, covered with carpet on top and sides, and laminate (formica type stuff) surface showing underneath. I assume the posts are fiberboard/cardboard of some sort.
The one I got was cardboard covered in carpet held together by some screws (the base was wood, but not ... those floor to ceiling things that is kinda propped up with something that looked suspiciously like a shower-curtain rod. heh

Yes - that's it. Tension spring rod to the ceiling. Actually, maybe that's why mine works really well - not much of that is exposed - the tree goes within an inch or 2 of the ceiling - maybe a little more solid that way?

Mine did, too. It broke where the pieces met - the screws that held the cardboard to the top part that attached the pieces together snapped through the cardboard. It basically just ripped right off where the pieces met. It was like 4 pieces, IIRC.
I think my cats are just insane. LOL

Interesting. My cats are extremely active and actually slam themselves into that tree, running up and down it many times a day and it's still in one piece. Maybe the one you got was made by a different plant or something. The platforms are on the small side though and if your cats are active, the pole may need repositioning at the ceiling, although we had cut the spring part for a lower ceiling then moved into a house with wooden floors.

I also have one I got from Drs. Foster Smith that's still in pretty decent shape.
