3 times lately, we've met people with a BC and an Aussie. I begin todoubt coincidence. Are these people on to something? Mac just lured a pair into the surf, and the BC seemed less driven, the Aussie more enterprising than I expected, as if they had enhanced each other.

A Boxer and a GSD. The GSD's seriousness wrt to training & attention will offset the Boxer's "I know what you want of me but I'm going to look at you like you're talking Russian anyway because I don't want to comply" attitude. The Boxer's fun-loving, playful nature & adoration of all people (including strangers) will offset the GSD's more reserved & skeptical nature.

I know a breeder of both doxies and rotties. When I commented on her choice of two such widely different breeds, she said that there were a lot of similarities, and that they got along well together.

They do get along well together and while there are similarities there are also differences that compliment each other. Abbey, our female Rottie who died 9 years ago, loved Pebbles the Min. Dachshund. Pebbles loved her in return. They were practically inseparable. People used to ask if Pebbles was Abbey's puppy because they had identical markings, both black & tan although their "tan" was more mahogany-colored.

this is true for Lola. she loves pugs and will tone down her normally crazy play in order to play with them. my favorite picture of her is one with a pug pulling on each of her ears.

Even Basenjis?!?

Most likely, which is why I suggested that they be paired with a more serious minded dog. Basenjis don't fit that category for sure.

Because that could be dangerous
No kidding! Would you be willing to undertake an experiment to sate our curiosity? Maybe you know a pug you can borrow?
