Subject: WARNING: DANGEROUS TOY
I just received an email as follows. Please cross post to all groups,

lists, etc. asap. Thank you.
I have two friends with birds that have been caught very recently

in a parrot shaped pinata toy that has a sombrero sewn with thread. The

birds chew the straw sombrero, the thread gets loose, the bird gets

trapped. The larger bird had toes caught. The smaller became entirely

wrapped in the thread and may have suffered permanent wing damage. This toy

was listed at Dr. Fosters and Smith catalog no. K-2317/1983 - picture

on page 73, it is sold on Petco's web site, and at Bird Toy Outlet.I

have contacted all 3, but I don't know if anything will be done, of

course. The item seems to have already been renoved from Fosters and Smith's

web site and replaced with a similar pinata with a sombrero made of

what appears to be paper mache, so I am betting that there have been more

than the incidents that I know of.

Subject: WARNING: DANGEROUS TOY I just received an email as follows. Please cross post to all groups, lists, etc. asap. Thank you.

Whenever a message containing a warning asks to be mass-posted, forwarded to everyone you know, etc., 99.9% of the time, it's a complete hoax.
Even in the rare case where such a message does contain a legitimate warning, it does little good to pass it around in this manner because any sensible person will assume it is a hoax, based on the fact that nearly all such messages are hoaxes. (The "Boy who Cried 'Wolf!'" effect.)
Please don't spread this kind of debris around.
