I have a pet ball python maybe like 5 or 6 year old light male. Wonderful eater and my husband and he get along very well. Handled daily. But when we got him and I was handling him, he went to the edge of my leg and bit me! Everything was going so well! Now I'm afraid to handle him and I friggin love him so much that its actually depressing me. How do I get over this fear? I had clean hands and clothes I had just finished menstruating the previous day and thats what my husband faults for the bite. Please help
I do NOT wanna lose my b.p.
And no one wants a snake with a history. Please help

Could be that you have a fat leg and the snake could smell the gravy inside

Ball pythons are notoriously shy and well-mannered. I had one for many years and even when attacked by a rat which was his food, he simply curled up in a ball and hid his head. I would take a guess that something else triggered the bite. Maybe he hadn't been feed in a bit longer than usual, well-fed snakes are usually less apt to bite. Or maybe their was a smell or the way you moved that triggered a predatory response. If the snake was in the middle of a shed or about to start shedding it may have made him more irritable than normal as well.
