Lola has done something very strange lately. twice now, she has gone over ot the blanket that Manu likes to lay on, kicked it around a bit (as though she were getting ready to lie down on it), squatted, and peed a little bit on the blanket.
the first time, i thought she had an accident. the second time, it was right after she came inside from peeing. she is definitely housetrained, and hasn't had an "accident" since she was 3 months old. i'd think medical, but this was four weeks apart, and it was on the same blanket both times.

is it possible she's "marking" it? i've never heard of this in females. she and Manu still haven't worked out their dominance issues completely, so i wonder if that has anything to do with it?
BTW- she's 13 months old, and was spayed at 12 weeks.

Yes, a lot of females mark.

It's quite common in females. My female, Murphy, used to mark as well as midden.

Yes, Roz is 4.5 years old and marks often during walks, often she will mark where Sam has marked or Sam will mark where Roz has marked, neither dog has ever marked inside.
Mind you Roz is a bit "butch" as far as females go so maybe she's not a good example.

Yup. Loki marks everything, complete with the lifted leg. Kiska always did too. Also, whenever we are over at my parents house Loki and their Bloodhound female are constantly remarking over each other's spots.

Indeed I have one of those and my BGF's dog always goes and pees on the spot where one of my dogs has just gone.

how would she know she female if you never let her grow up with all her parts?

lovely.
so the next question is...
anyone know how to stop her from doing it indoors? everything i've read about marking behavior relates to intact males, and the solution is supposed to be to neuter them.
obviously this won't work with Lola... :-)
