See Janet's post about wet muddy dogs. There is a plus to crates.

that might be something for Cate to consider, but it's totally a non-issue for some people.

I was talking to Cate, just as Janet was talking to me. I know that Cate does take Orson swimming.
I know you have and your dogs have a phobia of water. Obviously it is a non issue for you and your dogs.
But since my post was in response to Cate, and not to you, I think it shouldn't matter that much to you. I guess you have a bone to pick with me today?

where the dogs are concerned, i can usually expect to come home to find the place reasonably close to the condition i left it in.

Heh, I am reminded of the cat litter fiasco!

That's something that I don't have to worry about. Neither of my dogs are likely to get confrontational, and would probably retreat to the nether reaches of the car if confronted with big, scary men. Thank goodness for scaredy cats (or should it be dogs?).

that's the thing, though. neither of my dogs usually reacts protectively, but i'd hate to count on that. elliott has, on a couple of occasions, decided to be protective. and who knows what will possess little miss scaredy pants if she feels threatened and cornered? i'd rather not find out!

You should still worry, unfortunately. Emotion: sad A friend of mine had a cop threaten to shoot her Dane mix for being loose in the car with her. He barked once and was sitting calmly in the car. Cops can be really.. um.. assholes when it comes to dogs they don't know.

If a dog cannot move about they do NOT get any exercise.

if they live in *my* house, they get all sorts of exercise, regardless of how much time they spend in a crate.

tell us how far you walk your dogs everyday.

Wrong since I was talking to you.

well, i don't have a minivan and i don't crate my dogs, so i don't understand the relevance.
I am not sure what me crating my dog has to do with you either.

nothing, beyond the fact that i was curious about how the crates were secured. next time, i won't bother asking.
Go for it. You might as well, you seem to be on one good roll for some reason.

it happens when i'm exasperated. i realize it's a serious temperament flaw, but c'est la vie.
Strangely I wasn't the person that asked the question.

no, but you did see fit to answer for me. i thought your answer was a little odd and unclear! so i commented on it. is that Not Allowed?
Are you know telling me what I should or shouldn't think about?

nope. i'm exasperated, not st00pid.
What's up with you today? You seem all ruffled up for no apparant reason at all.

exasperation. i'm tellin' ya', there are times when it can make yer eyeballs implode.

How can we "help"?
Heh, I am reminded of the cat litter fiasco!

yeah, there are occasional lapses. now, i'm kicking myself for not getting pictures. it was pretty darned funny in retrospect.
on a day-to-day basis, though, it's the cats who are the messy ones. who knew cats could be such barn animals? honestly, there's no excuse for that sort of behavior!
