Moogli isn't too sure of Emilie, so we are letting him go at his own pace. There is a definate ... yes, in that by sleeping on there he will be exposed to her scent and become more comfortable around her.

I would say it's fine but keep an eye on the situation and make sure the dog understands that sharing space with the baby is a privilege and not a right. Our BCs were allowed to lie on the baby's blanket with her, although I had to draw a line when I caught Molly rolling the baby over with her nose to make more space. She tended to treat the baby as a cross between a large, bald, pink puppy, and an automatic yogurt dispenser. That dog could hear a wet burp from across the house and would come on the run to clean her up.
My daughter said "dog" before she said "mama".

When my son was a baby and starting to crawl, our GSD would sometimes reach out and very delicately take the tiniest grip on the hem of the baby's ankle-length pants in his teeth as the baby crawled by/over him. And hold it, while the baby turned red in the face and roared with frustration. It was hilarious. Of course, we had to intervene, but... .

Saskia, our Dane, lies down very carefully and slowly with her nose as close to the baby as she can get it, then often lays her muzzle gently across his legs. It sure looks like she's trying to keep him in one place, and coincidentally I saw the same behavior in a documentary about African wild dogs the other day: the babysitting female did this with a particularly active puppy while lying beside the rest of the pups. When Walter gets himself out of that and starts to crawl off, she contorts herself trying to keep her nose under his belly while he repeatedly climbs over her face, until he is out of range. Then she scoots herself along on her belly with her nose at the end of his feet.
