I am taking care of a REALLY old dog and wondering what would happen if I got him stoned. He's not much fun to play with, and I'm thinking if I got him ripped, he might want to get out and chase a ball around.

Has anyone had any experience with this, especially with older dogs?

I have had friends who have got their dogs stoned. The dogs were fine afterwards, however they were 5 or 6yrs old. And the dogs enjoyed it apparently, and would go in the room if it could smell smoke. They seemed to sit there and fall over.
Once, when I had my cat, I hotboxed it without realising it. It couldn't sit straight - I let it go into another room wihtout the smoke, but not outside, should it get run over by a car.
However, do not force it on the dog, and due to his age, I would be very hesitant. It doesn't sound like its your dog. This may count as animal abuse - remember, dogs can't say no. I personally wouldn't risk it, or at least ask the owner's permission.
Just remember - if anythign happens (bad) then you are responsible, and should own up to any consequences.

A dog is not a plaything man. Unless you would walk up to your grandma after the demensia sets in and blow smoke in HER face, don't do it to the dog. How bout I throw a ball outside and then YOU go fetch it for my amusement?

Ok, would you do it if I blew smoke in your face first? please?

How do you get an animal stoned? Do you just blow smoke in their faces or cook up a batch of brownies?

I gotta agree. I'd never force a buzz on anything or anyone that wasn't 100% willing. And you just can't tell with a dog, especially one that isn't yours.
Too bad there isn't a catnip for dogs. My kitties absolutely love that stuff and they are just silly on it!

It's not the dog's job to entertain you.
He's not your dog; he's old; you have no idea what the effect of getting him stoned would be - it could be serious or fatal.

Don't.

i have a friend who gets his dog stoned on the fourth of July, it helps him deal with the fireworks. it doesn't make the dog more fun though, he just sleeps through it.
and yes, he checked with the vet before he tried it. the vet said he didn't think it would be a problem, if you just blew smoke at him (he used half a milk jug to funnel it). he didn't recommend feeding it to the dog though.
