Is there concern for a well-trained housebroken adult dog to spend time with young dogs that are not housebroken and have possibly other behavioral problems? Is it common for an adult dog (with several years of excellent behavior) to pick up bad habits of other dogs when you are babysitting someone else's puppy/dog?
Just wondering what people's thoughts were on this. Thanks very much.

Its usually the reverse. The trained dog's habits will rub off on the untrained dog, given enough time. I haven't had any of my dogs pick up bad habits (or at least any that lasted) from the untrained foster dogs I've had. If anything my dogs helped train the fosters much faster than I probably could have achieved.

My extremely obedient girl learned to eat deer, horse and goose poop from a neighbor's dog. Never did it until she saw her pal doing it. But she did not pick up any of the wild untrained dog's other bad habits.

Thank you for the response. That is good to hear. I've heard of adult trained dogs remarking areas that non-housebroken dogs had accidents on. I hope that doesn't happen!
Our one dog "taught" the other sit, stay, and was a big help in housebreaking. OTH we dog sat for a friend and that dog taught ours how to dig- they NEVER did that before and were caught in the act with Eddie Haskell (adorable mutt).

Our two old dogs helped train our puppy, Everybody got "trained" together and the dog dogs seemed amused that they were being praised for doing what they do. They became extremely enthusiastic when they got treats for being good.
