The wholesaler where I buy meat for the dogs is ... buy poultry from them, and will continue to do so.

Unfortunately, if you eat store-bought meats and fish your risk for listeriosis is a lot higher than your risk for BSE, and with way-huge cutbacks in FDA inspections over the past few years the incidence of listeriosis is way, way, way up.()

Actually, it's way down. And here's how to keep it down:

Risk Assessment Reinforces That Keeping Ready-To-Eat Foods Cold May Be the Key to Reducing Listeriosis
10/27/2003
"The past several years have seen continuing improvement in the control of Listeria monocytogenes, the pathogen that causes listeriosis, in a wide variety of ready-to-eat foods. For example, this assessment follows an October 2003 FSIS release of findings indicating a "25 percent drop in the percentage of positive Listeria monocytogenes samples and a 70 percent decline compared with years prior to the implementation of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system." Much of the reduction is associated with new regulatory steps and a variety of actions taken by the food industry to address the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in their products."

I think judging by the misleading and evasive remarks you've made on this ng, you must have contracted this disease a long time ago. Don't forget to call your other friends who are quite mad namely, little Annie Martin and Liz from Brazil. I'm sure they would love to spin this to support their mad conspiracies! LOL
BTW, are cows vegetarians? Are cows supposed to eat other animals? If not, then why do they?
ROFLMAO!! I see you are still the same little dumb twit!

It's about time! Feeding cows animal products is insane. No wonder we now have mad cow disease. Actually, if I've heard correctly, a ban was instituted here in the U.S. back in 1997 forbidding animal protein in cattle feed. Now, this is not true for all livestock, but this is why they are more baffled than usual why this particular cow developed MCD. She's young enough that the chances of her being fed contaminated feed are pretty slim compared to 5 or 6 years ago.

Because mechanically recovered meat is, or used to be, used in the making of feed pellets...

I did read about the ban you're talking about. I also read that even though the ban was instituted in 1997, they were wondering if perhaps it wasn't being followed as it should have been. Do you know, is there any other way she could have gotten it if not fed animal products?

...and I've given you what you love (only slightly late for Christmas) a flame war.
I see that Christmas is indeed over for you since you are back to your usual name-calling! Apparently you don't choose to respond to your illogical post, which is what I was questioning in the first place.
Actually, my dogs love string cheese more than anything.

I recently bought a couple of on-sale kongs that were prepackaged with spray liver (the ensemble was cheaper than an individual kong, go figure). I'd planned to throw away the spray liver, but the ingredients are actually better than human Kraft Singles, and the dogs love it.
It's also kind of cool (and tidier) to spray the stuff directly into the dogs' mouths.

I got some of that at the feed store and Punk will do ANYthing for that spray liver stuff. More doggie crack, I assume. I forgot to check if the manufacturer was a division of HarCo.
