My 7 yr old chihuahua has been with me for 3 years and has used her dog door all that time. Recently she often won't go out on her own. She runs toward me, barks and then runs toward the door, but won't go out unless I go with her to watch. Even when I go to the door with her she sometimes won't go out and I have to talk her into it with lots of encouragement. I don't think another animal scared her because the dog door leads to a small fenced area, but I can't think of any other explanation. How can I get her back to normal??

I would try lots of praise every time she goes through, otherwise I can't think of anything else. I suppose she's scared of something outside, not the actual door?
