Hello,
Someone on this forum recommended a flat perch for my canary. I've seen this recommendation elsewhere, even with a canary with two good legs. Here's my question: I can't seem to find anyone selling the things, and yes I do use Google! Are we talking about a platform here, or just a perch that's flat?
BTW, Handel is using the stump on the bad leg more and more for balance anyway, but of course he'll never grip with it.

I used paint stirring sticks that I got at the hardware store, when I bought some paint. Drill a hole in them, and tie wrap to the cage to hold them in place.
I used the ones from Chippers

Also like the paint stirrer idea though
I added both a couple of the flat perches and a couple platforms I gave a platform for their food as he was able to use that better and he always sat in the dishes LOL
He will use the stump more and more as my Tommy Boy did Pretty soon he will be just like any other bird.
Does he have a cage mate?
I found that Tommy Loved having Sandy with him.
They were society finches though so cage buddies were important to their happiness. His attitude really changed and he perked up so much when he got her as a friend I was worried about adding at first for fear she would pick on him or bully him since he was with a little problem But there was never a issue.
Maybe after your little guy gets a little stronger he too could have a friend ??

Well, I'll definitely check them out. Also, probably put some bead-shaped treats on a string - threaded - so he can both tug at it and eat. He loves pulling at kale / romain lettuce / broccoli.

Well, I exchanged the wicker nest for a plastic bowl. More hygenic, use a couple strong paper clicps to attach to the cage. He's always in and out of there.

Thanks for the advice. I'm definitely checking out that site.
