I usually feed my snakes pre-killed rodents, but with all the talk about frozen/thawed, I am considering trying those. I can see the benefits of no possible parasites, along with much less mess, and not having to kill rats every week or two. Now the question..where do most of you get your frozen rats? Any good, dependable sources for small quantities? I'd like to try just a few before buying very many. I would need jumbo sized rats, and I'm in North Carolina. Any suggestions?
TIA!
Roger
Roger,
Your best bet would be to go to a site like Kingsnake: www.kingsnake.com and check out the various ads and suppliers there. Who has the best price is often offset by shipping charges.
Take a look around at some of the various suppliers, and see who is closet to you (saves on shipping) and who offers rodents in low numbers (for many a "low" number is between 20-50, depending on size).

Good Luck!

Any regular reptile shows in your area?
I have it easy: I can get to Columbus OH for their monthly show, and get as few or as many rodents as I like.

I wish there were, but they seem to be a rare occurance around here. There is one in the next month or so in Raleigh, but with my work schedule, I don't know if I will even be able to make it to that one or not. I guess I'll get a few numbers out of Reptiles magazine, and do some calling. I see some even accept PayPal.
Thanks!
Roger

It's not uncommon for commerical snake breeders/"exotic" pet shops to sell frozen rodents. I buy mine from the place where I got most of my snakes. Probably worth checking the dealers in your area.
