Hi,
I'm hoping to get some ideas for a doggie fun days that the local collie club will be hosting in August. So far we will be playing musical chairs, egg/spoon relay race, dress the dog relay race, godzilla stomp(dog knocks over plastic soldiers), a small obstacle course, best trick contest and best costume contest. I'm considering the bobbing for hotdogs/biscuits.. but not sure if I want the mess.
Any other ideas for games that people with very little training can play? I've been trying to look for kids games that I can adapt, but somehow, I just can't see the dogs dropping clothes pins into a bottle or passing a orange from chin to chin lol
so, any games?

Howdy Cheryl,
If you can find a lure machine you could have the dogs do some lure chasing. You can set it up to go in a pattern with turns or just a straight line. Will wear the dogs out real fast :-)

One my pup inspired me to think of was the kong 'un-stuffer' game - basically have participants to supply a kong in advance to have stuffed & frozen by competition judges, then the dogs can win on either points gained for variety of techniques used or speed.
There are a few things to consider here, like getting hold of kongs, but I reckon it'd be a great game.

How about the hot dog return. Toss a frozen hotdog (we only ask for about 3 feet), the dog that returns the most wins. donna and the magic ganf (we never return anything)
We have a dog bone hunt where we scatter milkbones all over a big hill. Several "golden bones" (wrapped in candy foil) are redeemed for prizes.
We also did an old fashion cake walk and it raised money for us!

I just realized that this was for a collie club - I would have to figure out some sort of game where Lassie can save Timmy from a well (they could have to retrieve a boy doll out of wishing well!) or some other sort of danger. Best life saving Lassie would win a prize!
