Hi All,
"Spot", our leopard gecko has not been eating lately. He seems to be OK but has been lazily spening a great deal of time on the cool side of his tank under a shelter. I get him out but he's not eating. Tonight he licked a cricket twice but then turned and walked away.
Does a gecko possibly think he's hiberating or something? We haven't changed anything in the environment he lives in although the ambient temp outside the tank is relatively lower than it was during summer months (we've only had "Spot" for a year now; he's just over a year old).

Can anyone shed some knowledge here for us... thanks in advance!

Regards - Fred

Mine usually quit eating or eat a lot less in the fall and winter. Mine also will get tired of crickets and won't touch them. Try meal worms or superworms, or as a treat waxworms(aka gecko crack)

How long might they go without eating? I will try to locate some of the other foods for now. I also thought I ead somewhere that they tend to eat better/more when they're not cold. So if that's true...and he's spending a lot of time on the cool side of the cage... it makes some more sense to me.
BTW - We are in northern NJ so there has been a real drop in the temp outside the house but not in the gecko's lighting.

As Luke mentioned in the other post, I'll check the temp's in the tank.

Thanks again - Fred

If they have nice fat tails they should be fine for a while. you might want to trhink about a vet to make sure they aren't sick. Have you a a fecal exam done? better to have them tested early and know its just the weather. Mine will quit for a week or two or they will only eat one or two mealworms a week, do you have a thermometer in the cage. how hot is the warm side?

My leo, also named "spot" slowed down his eating when he shed. He also doesn't eat until he "eliminates" :-) i.e. poops. I watch this since the risk for impaction is on my mind..
