We went to meet Gigi's prospective family, who have a pretty big dog named Zeke. They were concerned about him because he had been attacked at the dog park and he has been a little reactive ever since. They were really on edge when we brought Gigi over.
Gigi was, as usual, nonplussed. Zeke wasn't too sure about this fat little bundle of fur, but within a few minutes he was overjoyed that we brought him his very own puppy. It was a beautiful thing watching him play with his girl. They ran around together and he played with her like her mom used to. He was so sweet! He was a little too rambunctious at first, but she yelled at him and he toned down his play.

Their adult daughter is living with them - at least for a while - and she used to work as a vet tech. The husband finally relaxed and played with Gigi, who just gave him so many kisses! Ditto for the daughter.

Gigi and Zeke were following each other around, and every now and then he'd come up to us & mouth us, as if he couldn't believe his luck. He seemed so happy!
Everybody was really pleased and we spent two hours over there! We're going to take her over to her forever home on Sunday. Her forever home is about a mile away and the couple go to church with DH, so we'll get updates. Gigi's been a great ambassador for the rest of the puppies. I'm glad she won't be too far away and I'm glad she'll have Zeke to rule.

Oh, how perfect!! But also, I imagine, bittersweet. Is DH going to be okay??

We're both probably going to miss her (and Comet) the most. It will be helpful that her new parents go to church with DH and live very nearby.

We met Comet's new Mommy and Aunt this morning and they are very excited. He's going to his new home on Saturday. That's going to be sad as well. Dancer's prospective parents are meeting him tomorrow night. They also go to church with DH.
We already know Bear's (or Ling-Ling's) parents, so they'll need to choose between the girls.
It was funny: Ling-Ling was the one we had picked out for the woman this morning, but she changed her mind and wanted Comet. Ling-Ling was all over her, Comet, not so much.
I didn't realize how much the puppies relate to me (of course they do). They were far more interested in me nd DH than the two new people, but they were very friendly with new Mommy & Auntie.
All the puppies are outgoing and friendly and all of them are basically calm. Was this part of the result of the Super Puppy program (or our "program")? We'll never know the difference.
Comet's new Mommy has two dogs (and three kids) and I think he's going to have a blast at their house.

I am SO ready. Right up to the second after they are gone. This is one of those things that I have had my mind set on since the puppies were born. I seriously doubt that emotional reality has been considered.

I suspect that we harbor feelings that not all the puppies would find homes; maybe we'd have one left. I also suspect we're going to be "feeling" those puppies for a long time. And missing all the excitement they bring.
We will most certainly miss puppy therapy, puppy breath... and all those puppies!

Me either. I am not at all happy that Montana has found homes for the pups. I hope that there will be puppy updates and pictures.

Puppies need good homes. They simply can't freeload here forever and we don't have time to train them to be our personal assistants, although that is very tempting.
Of course we are hoping for updates and pictures. So far, the two homes have expressed a desire to see their photos on the web as well. It's going to be difficult not to call the families every day to get updates!
But watcing Gigi and Zeke last night, and watching her new dad go ga-ga over her... made us feel like she would be really happy and loved there. Zeke was just so happy to have a puppy of his own! Gigi never looked back for us, never ran to hide by us and was perfectly content to run to her new family and follow Zeke around like her new idol. (ungrateful little wretch...)

Yeah, as if you're the one who matters.
Seriously, I'm glad for you that you're finding good homes for them, and the story of Gigi visiting her new family was really heartwarming (although what's this about a new name? The lovely 2-syllable French names are all that and a bag of chips Gigi, Zoe, Chloe, Mimi etc.).

I know you'll miss them but that it's impossible to keep them all. But you have been so generous about sharing them with us that I'm sure we're all experiencing separation anxiety as well!

Everybody needs to name their puppy. Self-help groups use the phrase, "Name it and claim it."
We don't need 4 bitches in the house, two whom need to be spayed!
