Four year old smooth collie *** free to a bad home. http://masl.to/?U12651D4E She's spayed, housebroken, has had some obedience, rally and agility training. She has a lot of potential for tracking (excellent nose).
Two hours ago, I would've paid handsomely for someone to take her.

Yes, during a nice jog on the Cayuga Trail this morning, Lucy once again found and rolled in Human Poop. Fortunately, she didn't find the diarrhea mother lode like that one infamous time near the Cornell Community Garden Plots (I still shudder with the memory). This time the poop was fairly solid so she was only able to smeared on the surface of her neck & face fur. With Lucy I've learned to appreciate the small things.

Later when I was leading her to our master bathroom (which has an extra wide shower stall and glass doors to prevent escape), she pulled from me and jumped into bed in an attempt to share her vile stench with Dave. Dave was not thrilled. Pablo also had a bath as Lucy had body slammed him a few times (she was feeling mighty pleased with herself) and some poop rubbed off on him.

I have sold her for parts to the highest bidder.

I actually broke Kanyak, our GSD-Dobe mix, of that habit. The second time he did it (it was the buried guts of a slaughtered sheep) I grabbed him by the collar and tossed him into the shower stall yelling "banyo!" (the Turkish word for "bath!") repeatedly as I washed him. Kanyak HATED baths. Not too long afterwards he came across another opportunity to roll in something vile and when I saw him move towards it I shouted "banyo!" and that stopped him cold. There were a few more chances to reinforce the "conditioning" but never again did he take a roll in the muck.

Clearly, Dave is a saint. If a dog jumped into bed with me in the shape that Lucy was and if my ever-loving spouse allowed it to happen, SOMEBODY'S body parts would have been available for FREE.
OTOH, I took a look at the picture in the link above. If you just look at that beautiful, clean, white-ruffed little girl, it is obvious that Chris is making this all up. Just take one look at that face and I submit to you, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, that CHRIS is the poopyhead.

Apparently another case of MBP. It is running rampant in rpdb.

that sounds like a great idea. we live in the country and often come across yucky stuff for Maui to roll in. He loves it but doesn't care for bath for gets afterward. I am going to try your method and see how it works with him.

And let me add, in Lucy's defense that I have met Lucy personally. And I have always known her to be clean and well-groomed. In the time we have spent together, I have never known her to show the slightest inclination to lower herself to roll in human excrement.

It works with the right conditioning, timing, and appropriate correction. The right timing requires that you spend time waiting for the action to occur naturally and then apply the appropriate correction if your dog has already received proper conditioning.
In OTW, do that kind of stuff only if you're extremely confortable with your dog and he's extremely comfortable with you.

Stop slandering the poor beast! It is perfectly obvious that the divine and dignified creature in that photo would never do such things.
In a bout of good timing, my daughter and her best friend have set up a dog bath service in our side yard today. In a bout of bad location, we live across the country from you. But then, if she had to deal with poop instead of just muddy dogs, she'd probably suddenly need to shut down anyway.

Alice loves decorating herself in fresh cow pie (the greener the better) at herding trials. Move the steers/ big slide on shoulder. Put them through obstacle, grind back into slop. Makes it hard for me to really want to hug her when she's done well. Broom Sandy
