My Bearded Dragon will be 7 years old in August, I have had him for 6 years..he has always been a great pet, his name is Hershel..anyway recently he has been sleeping A LOT and eating very little, I feed him Roamine lettuce every other day and I keep his water fresh, he was still eating as of Wednesday 6/15, but today when I woke up I found him in between the glass and his tree and he is turning WHITE!!

What can I do, is he dying of old age? I have heard that they only live up to 7-10 years..if that's the case, he's at the right timeline for this to happen.
There have been a couple of times this week alone that I had to really look at his sides to see if he was breathing.
Please someone let me know, if this is normal, coz it doesn't sound like it to me.
Thanks
Mickey..this is my 1st post.

If you're doing everything according to care sheets (and I assume you give him more than just lettuce), perhaps his number's up but then again, maybe it's something that can be cured/corrected through a trip to the vet.

At any rate, he's probably outlived his life expectancy in the wild!

Make sure it has a basking spot of at least 90=BA. Also, you'll need to check some care sheets on the diet. A bearded dragon cannot sustain life with only romaine lettuce. It should be fed a variety of greens, few fruits and veggies and bugs. My bearded dragons used to vary their color depending on their environment.

If it has survived 6 years than i guess it was given the right conditions.

When my 2 died of old age i got the same sort of symptoms. I think mine started to have sunken eyes for the last few days as teh body was shutting down, the female died in my arms as too she seemed to stop beathing, i held it for about 24 hours until the end.
7 years is a good life span
Just for the record, my bearded, Velcro is 12 years old and still has a lot of life left in him. I have seen life spans of up to 15 years listed. Don't write him off yet. Check temps, find a vet if you can. It's worth it!

thats a damn long time, i once had hamsters that did 50% more than normal, and i bred super roaches, twice the size and lived longer.

Yup, my oldest beardie is almost 10 and he's still going strong.

I really hate seeing people getting on Usenet and saying "my xxx is sick, what do I do?"
YOU TAKE IT TO THE VET, YOU IDIOT! Sheesh.
If you're that worried about him bring him to a vet
How is the beardie?
