hello everyone looking for help with our new lil adopted friend we live in Fl and the cuban tree frogs are all over here my son has decided he wants one for a pet his own lil buddy i need help tking care of our new lil friend thanks
May I ask where in Florida you are? We "acquired" a Cuban tree frog by accident in Florida (he climbed on our RV) and didn't realize it until more than a month later. We have kept him with us only because to release him anywhere other than southern Florida would be a death sentence.

We have had our frog (not by choice) now for about 4 months. I personally would never recommend a wild frog as a pet for children because you can't hold them, they don't do much at all, they are nocturnal so it is night when they're doing anything, and they do require alot of care (changing water every day, cleaning the cage every week, feeding crickets regularly, care of the crickets, vitamins, misting, environmental control etc.) The secretions of a Cuban Tree Frog are also very strong so if you touch him at all, be sure to wash your hands, not touch your eyes or mouth, otherwise a bad stinging will occur.
I'm sure people on this group can give you links and suggestions as to how to care for him, if you still decide that you must keep him.

Bravo Meghan!!!
You have become one with your inner herper!
The passing of knowledge without rash judgement.
Im a frog guy..I dig the nocturnalness(?) of these creatures. I agree, not an ideal pet for a child.
Frogs, especially wild frogs, are "look-dont touch" pets. If you understand this and still must keep him.

Did you buy it or did you catch a wild one? If you caught a wild one, well, as far as I know, it's illegal to catch and keep wild animals
