It seems that almost every time a new person asks about getting a parrot they get replies about mess, noise, expenses and that parrots are a long time commitment. So how old are everyones' birds? My U2 is going on 17yrs and my Cag will be 7 yrs this year. What is the oldest bird you know? I met an amazon who had lived with the same people for 35 yrs. They did not know how old it was when they got it. Debbie

Peachboy is in his late twentys. Have had some older, Amazons and a Teil but he is the old man right now. He has 40-50 years left if all goes well.

If I remember you got Peachboy from someone else. How old was he when you got him? Did he have any difficulty adjusting to his new home? Debbie OF
Molly YNA was thirteen when she arrived in our home 4 yrs ago which would make her 17 now. BooBoo senegal is five.

Max the BCC was 4 when we got him in 95 Rickie the Tiel was a baby in 98, Charlie the B&G was born 3/02/01 I bought him when he was 6 months old. The Tiel never has liked people, the BCC has changed a LOT, he gets more friendly as the years go by. The B&G was quite a handful the first couple years. He has mellowed a little. I kind of miss his rough housing, but it is nice that he takes a nap now and then these days .

Ral is an 8 year old English budgie. Bobby is unknown, found on my front lawn last summer; I'd guesstimate 3 years old. The 2 Zebras are 2 years old. Emotion: smile
I don't know any old birds; not avian anyway. Emotion: wink Becky

The oldest bird I ever had was a 14 year-old parakeet and I'm not really sure how old he was when I got him. He was a foundling who got lost outside somehow. I fondly remember cuddling Buddie to my breast to warm and calm him (he was scared to death from his adventure in the great OUTDOORS) before putting him in a large cage with a couple of other parakeets. He quickly became king of that roost; he was a tail-puller (BUDDIE, NO!)

Buddie was the best little 'keet ever - open the cage door and he would fly to my shoulder, nibble gently on my earrings, necklace or my hair; climb on my head and preen me. He was a great little pal. I was 14 when I found him and 28 when he died.
I have to keep reminding myself my lovebird, Peaches, is still a 'baby' at 1-1/2 years of age.
