It can be in many ways. Either getting up and getting between them, calling them to me, telling them to KNOCK IT OFF (this one works the best and isthe fastest)

I'm amazed at how many people use this phrase to stop any sort of unwarranted grumblings...
It's the phrase my boys know as well. A resounding "Knock it off!" will break up any sort of activity that is just getting out of hand. Shelly & the Boys

with us it's "HEY!". followed by a soft and low, "easy", which at this point is an invite to come to mom and sit nicely for treats and pets.

we're working on it. someday i'll have well behaved dogs... :-)

It seems like second nature to me as I have had at least four dogs at a time since the late 70's, and before that it was three. (All in tact males BTW) ; )
i can keep up with my two in the same way, stopping things before they start... but any more pups and i'm afraid i'd miss some of their cues.

You would be surprised that it really is not that much difference with 7 as it is with 2, except of course more time to give them individualized attention.

I think though for me five would be the best scenario ,especially now that I am getting older,as then I could take them all in my car at once, and they could have their exercise all together as well.
Now if I want to take them all we go in the Suburban, and usually hubby comes too, as SEVEN really is a PACK and they can and do get into WILD MODE.
luckily, Lola seems to be accepting that Manu
is her boss now, so she's starting to settle down and let him be his pushy, bossy self. i think as they get older it will get easier also. -kelly

Yup. You see how things are different in everyone's dogs.I have always found that if you have females they are the boss of the guys.

I also have found that the MALES I have and have had, will FIGHT more than the FEMALES.
There is never a fight between any of my males with the females.

Yup, KNOCK IT OFF works GREATT!
Or WHAT are you doing?
Paulette~
^H^H^H^Hhere,
you have an unfortunate tendency to universalize your own experience.

MY experience is at least THIRTY YEARS of rescue and rehabbing VERY AGGRESSIVE dogs, and being President of a shelter here and a board memeber of another.
What's YOURS?
Paulette~
Well there ya go. dogs need to find out their boundaries and usually do so pretty quick. : )
Paulette~
What's YOURS?

That looks exactly like a penis, only smaller.
But by golly, Paulette, don't you think it's a mistake to advise people who don't have your superhuman dog training skills to take the same risks you do?

Ahh I guess that could be construed as a funny.
Not into substitute penises though.

Well by golly, rodger doger, I did not see it as much of a risk.

Of course I am a gambler, and if I wasn't many dogs would be dead by now.

That's what she's saying Paulette. That YOU have tons of experience with lots of different types of dogs. I, OTOH, do not (and fully admit it!) :-)
Just because YOU see it one way, doesn't mean it's the only way that another person is going to see or experience it especially someone that isn't super experienced. With me, I can read all the books in the world, but the only way to really learn (and gain experience) is by doing. And I've just not been "doing" that long. But...you've got to start somewhere.
