Ahh A dozen dogs is a lot.

I didn't mean concurrently.

Oh,misunderstood.
Over one's lifetime, I'm sure that each of us can fit plenty of dogs into our heart.

Yes, all are in my heart, plus my rescues too!

(
One is a purebred lab, and lab rescue is willing to take him, but this dog is very attached to the GSD-lab mix that he lives with, and lab rescue won't take him, of course.

BUMMER. I should think they would find it in their heart to take both of these dogs.
That said, can you get a write up in the paper, and do the adoption yourselves?

There are some wonderful kind people that a will take TWO ,but you have to get the word out there.
I know when people have died and there was a Chessie and another dog Ihave always taken both and wouldn't adopt them separately as I felt they needed to be together.
I am also wondered by the good people out there who come forth to adopt a twosome. : )
We're hoping that one of the all-breed rescues around here will have the space to take them both in and place them together.

Now the lab is black, yellow or chocolate?
Oh I feel so sad for the person to have to be so sick and also give up his dogs. : (
If not, the volunteer will take them in at least
temporarily, and that'll bring the total number of dogs in her home to 9 (she has 7 of her own). I can't even imagine.

Oh you get used to it.
; )
The most I have ever taken care of are 23 and honest to doG THAT was a LOT OF WORK!

What rescue dog are you currently obsessed with?

I am currently obsessed with getting a sighthound as my next rescue,

We have had greyhounds for about 10 years now. I highly recommend them. They are probably the easiest dog I have been around.

Indeed. And then there are the borzios. Very nice dogs. I am very impressed after meeting several this weekend.
In fact I really like them.

BUMMER. I should think they would find it in their heart to take both of these dogs.

They had to institute a policy change that stipulated that the dogs must look and act like purebred labs. Too many dogs, not enough resources to go around. They are among the largest and most successful rescues on the East coast, and part of that is probably because they are being so strict about who they take in.
That said, can you get a write up in the paper, and do the adoption yourselves?

Our rescue will most likely post them on our site somewhere, but I have no idea how much more effort anyone will be able to put into this. To be perfectly honest, a GSD rescue will have a much harder time placing a Lab or a Lab mix than an all breed rescue.

From what I've read, the one dog stops eating when the other one is not around. I don't know if he'll starve himself to death, but I'm pretty sure that's something no one is willing to experiment with.
Now the lab is black, yellow or chocolate?

The lab is yellow (and overweight), and the other one is black. They're both males, 3 years old.
