Hey all. Well, Zeus is being a pain in the ass. Emotion: smile He is doing some kind of color-changing thing. When I went to pull him out of his new (to you all) cage this morning, he was black all over. Now, after being out for a little, his colors changed back. Does this mean that something in his new cage is stressing him out? What else could it be? Thanks. -Ben

My guess would be either stress or cold. How long has he been in the new cage, and was this the first time you've noticed the color thing?

I wouldn't worry about it my igg always goes dark to make better use of her light in making heat, the darker she gets the less light she needs to heat up , often as hot as toast when I pick her up when she is dark for a while..

Well, the ambient temp in the cage is between 76 and 80 with a basking spot of just below 100 F. And the humidity is a constant 80-90%. He's been in his cage for 2 weeks now. He changed right back and is a beautiful green w/blue lines now.

Maybe it was just a freak thing. Perhaps Zeus caught a strange reflection of something that wigged him out or had the iguana equivalent of a nightmare. If it doesn't continue to happen you've probably got nothing to worry about.

Thanks. On a related topic, Zeus head-bobbed at my roommate for the first time today (it was provoked, my roommate was head-bobbing first). But Zeus' bobs weren't what I expected. It was as if he had something on his head and was trying to dislodge it. Instead of an up/down bob, it was a side to side bob. Does anyone speak ig? Translation please?

Sounds like a shudder-bob, performed more often by male igs rather than females. It's territorial, Zeus was basically telling your roommate to F-off
