Hi,
I have two adult bearded dragons. One of them "Puffy" we bought as an adult around 7 years ago. So I'm estimating he is at least 8 years old, probably older. Anyway, he was very active until recently. Within the past week he seems to barely move at all. Is usually lying down, almost as if he can't support the weight of his body with his legs. He sleeps a lot. But he still has a good appetite and seems to drink water. He just seems to have a lot of difficulty moving around as if his legs won't support him.

He's gone through short periods of lethargy (probably brumation) before, but I'm wondering if he's just getting old or if he's sick. He actually seems to have put on some weight as well.
Please don't tell me to take him to the Vet. I'm well aware of that and it will be my next recourse in case I don't hear anything that makes sense. I'm more curious if others have had similar circumstances with their beardies.
thx,
David

exactly the same symtoms as mine 2 weeks ago, i could tell she was on her way out and died soon after, just held for a few hours until she went in my hands, sort of reasured her i was there.
8 is a good age.
No sooner did I write my original post then he did indeed pass away. I had him in his outdoor enclosure today (which he loves) and when I went out to bring him back in he had already passed. He was the coolest lizard I've ever had, and my favorite of my beardies. I am severely bummed out as is my daughter. Thanks for the info however as it gave me some peace of mind.
I think you sensed it was dying, i did with both mine, animals naturally dont showillness or close to death until its often near the end

I just made the last few hours for mine as confertouble as i could, out in the sun i would say would be a good way to go, good age so be assured of that, not all live long due to good care
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your beardie. I know how hard it can be to lose a pet.
Thanks Alison. I appreciate it.
