Do any of you have cats that like to chase and eat bugs? Earlier there was a moth on the wall next to one of the tables and my cat Isis had a nice fun time chasing the moth and trying to capture it. She never even fell off the table attempting to capture it while it spun inside the shade of the lamp that also was on the table. I was a bit worried that she might burn her paw on the light bulb trying to catch the moth.

She finally got it though and carried it away in her mouth and then dropped it on the floor and proceeded to eat it. I picked it up using some paper and threw it away. Isis looked at me as if to say "huh? That was mine!" I gave her a cat treat instead but I was so proud of her. I have very rarely had to call an exterminator for bug control as I have a live in version. Jade my other cat has yet to capture any bugs.

During summer time both of my cats catch and eat at least 10 flies a day. They love hunting them down and then eat them happily. Anything that moves in my apartment gets eaten > my place is 100% bug free..

Same here.
I have three cats and no bugs despite two ripped screens. LOL

Two years ago I had quite a few ladybugs. Tiger would go after them but never ate one. I guess they tasted terrible.

That's fortunate for the ladybugs!
Mine aren't allowed to catch ladybugs. (Yeah, right)...they are wonderful helpers to the garden. I usually buy them several times a year and turn loose. Sherry

Maybe, but if it were mine I guess I would have to stop kissing my kitties right on the lips. :-)

I hear those Asian bugs that look like ladybugs, but aren't, taste horrible as a defense and that's why there's so darn many of them here now...
Don't know if that's true, though.
My cats ate 'em. LOL

What is it about cats and bugs? Mine especially like house flies but will also chase spiders. They will not touch those imitation-lady-bug beetle things (that look like lady bugs but bigger and uglier) or box elder bugs. I know the beetles have a stinky substance they release, so I'd stay away too!

I remember in my old apartment Isis decided it would be fun to play with a bee. I heard a buzzing noise under my bed and saw a bee with Isis pawing at it. She never got stung since the thing looked close to death.
