=A0 We have a nibble on an adoption on our sweet, 'ol Hilde by a woman who just retired from the VA hospital. She's looking for a dog to be with 24/7 and to take to the hospital to make visits. =A0=A0=A0=A0"I've been thinking about that for a long time," she said. "There used to be an old Lab who came there. At Halloween, she dressed as the Queen of Hearts. The men loved her."

I thought I would post this part of your post in a separate thread so as not to take away from the thread on loss of beloved pets. I am so hoping you have found a home for Hilde. I fell in love with her on sight, but my home is not suitable for her or I woud have offered. Good old Hllde! This woman sounds perfect. I have all my fingers and toes crossed. Goldie and Logo have their toes crossed too.

My hopes are waning, Merry. Our adoption committee has doubts about her stability and are doing more evaluation. I never contest them (nor the people who do intake), They may make mistakes, but I couldn't do their job. Nobody would be good enough, and, as for intake .. how the hell do you stay pleasant with somebody who's dumping an animal? But, if you don't, more people would dump them on the street.

I understand where you are coming from Chris, but good old Hilde is still on my heart. She looks so much like my good dog Beau who 28 years ago taught my youngest daughter to walk. I will be so happy when Hilde gets a good home. As of course I know you will be too. There is a good home for her out there somewhere.

You gotta admit that's a helluva deal. Emotion: smile
=A0=A0=A0=A0Because Hilde is old (though fairly sound), the committee is concerned about the woman's financial situation, among other things. I'm hoping they offer her a 'medical foster', in which we pay for maintenance and vet bills (and can reclaim the dog if something goes wrong). Wow Chris that IS a helluva deal. Hilde is one lucky old gal to have found an organization like yours.
