Well, yeah, but.. I'm not talking about what dogs do if you scritch their butts, and I don't think Leah ... entire bodies instead of just their tails, sometimes doing a sort of sideways wiggle dance. IOW, it's a greeting behaviour.
Sort of - approaching sideways with the head and butt both turned towards the object of approach. And yes, it is a greeting behavior.

With Boxers, the kidney bean usually refers more to the repeated action, therefore its usually referred to as kidney-beaning. They do of course walk bent into a U shape but when a Boxer is excited they go into repeat mode with the body action. I know alot of dogs who will approach or even go into a U shape but I've only seen Boxers and Pits do the kidney-beaning.

Oops, add American Bulldog to that list.

ooh, have you ever seen them do it while jumping in the air? that's Manu's standard greeting when i come home. he jumps straight up, while moving his butt back and forth in perfect kidney bean fashion.
i think he's part gumby.

Oh yeah. I know Pits like to go airborn but I wonder if they do it as much as Boxers? I've yet to have a Boxer (my own or a foster) who didn't spend about 1/3 of their awake time in the air. I need to find the name of a male gymnest so I can play with the letters of his name and that of Air Jordan because I think that'll be my next Boxer's name.
