Use to have a healthy appetite, snapping up crickets and mealworms galore. He now seems apathetic, and hasn't ate much at all in the last few weeks. Once in a while he'll gobble up a meal worm, haven't seen him do it in over a week though.
Still looks pretty chubby ... Wonder if hes impacted ? I use that lizard litter for substrate, which I think is a crush coconut mulch, and its advertised as "aiding digestion".
Dunno, any ideas ?
Try feeding him wax worms to get him eating again, but don't get them hooked on wax worms because thay are very fatty. If his tail is still fat you don't have to worry but if your gecko starts to lose weight take him to your vet.

Thanx RM.
Problem is he won't eat anything, he'll look at worms, sometimes go into a stance of getting ready to strike, then he just looses it, relaxes and looses interest.
His tail is still nice and fat though.
mine do the same thing some times. What time are you trying to feed them? If your fedding them in the day try feeding at night. Try wax worms! when mine stop eating I give them two or three wax worms and they eat them. What size tank is he in? Another thing that keeps leopard geckos from eating is there enviroment it should be 90 on the hot end and 70 on the cool end, some times if it is to hot they won't eat until it cools down and the other way around if it's to cold they won't eat till it gets warm. Emotion: smile

I know its been a while, I'm happy to report Slim started eating again with a vengance.
He is now eating like he cant get enough, which is understandble after fasting more than a month (maybe hes muslim?)
Dunno the cause obviously. Heat range is good for him, hes in a 10 gallon aquarium with plenty of hiding spots and climbing surfaces. Did nothing to stress him, and in any case he is not skitish, is an easy going lizard and likes to be handled.
I have never fed him during the day or even evening, I usually feed him between 9 and 11 pm.
I have heard from more than one source that that waxworms, in the long run, are not a good idea as they are not nutricous, yet they can get addicted to them and refuse to eat anything else.
I have fed himwaxworms in the past, he has gobbled them up, but when he stopped eating he wouldn't eat those either.
I now feed him meal worms in addiction to crickets. I wonder if regular earth worms would be Ok for him ?
