So I need to order 4 tags. Does anyone have a good (reasonably priced, trustworthy) on-line source for tags?

I get mine from Foster and Smith. I get the flat plates that are riveted to the collar. Much quieter at night, and unlikely to get snagged and torn off, or caught in the HVAC vent cover when you're laying over the vent hogging the AC.

They're made of engraved brass which is somewhat less durable than the stainless used by Boomerang Tags.

I replace collars at least every other year, though, and I've never had a collar outlive its name plate. Even if the collar material is still strong it still gets grimey and smelly after a while, be it nylon, polypro or leather Washing helps but doesn't solve the problem entirely. And since my dogs sleep with me, I'm quite aware of a developing case of "collar stank".

My dogs wear a different one every month They are quite fashion conscious!

I thought about those, but we also have the county license tag and the rabies tag which I always keep on the collar just in case, especially in this area with Louisville's new outrageous dog ordinance so I just went with the SS hanging tags for the dogs. I got them from boomerangtags.com earlier. I also ordered 2 cat collars with attached flat tags, which I think will be great on the kitties who sometimes grab the hanging tags and yank on them till the quick release pops.
I know what you mean about collar stank. I usually wash the collar when I bathe the dog (which is no more often than every few months) and let the collar dry fully overnight before putting it back on. I also take collars off to let them dry after swimming whenever possible. That has always done the trick for us.

If we'd known there was a good chance that she had osteosarcoma, we'd have let her go rather than amputate ... of it. It's just that she's always been such a presence; it's like the end of an era or something.

She's lucky to have you and all the care and consideration that you have put into what would be best for her all along the way. Whatever you might have done differently, she has had a good life and will continue to have the best quality of life she can under your care for as long as she is able to. I'm so sorry you are going through this. You certainly deserve a break from all the sorrows of dog ownership. I'm glad you have also had plenty of the joys of dog ownership of dogs that are a presence like Tasha and others who have really touched and delighted you.

Sally,
I am so sorry for what you and your husband are going through with Tasha. It is so heartbreaking. Please remember that you have done all that can be done and try not to second guess yourself. That is the worst. My daughter has lost 2 dogs in the last 2 years and she still tortures herself about one of them.
I hope you can find some food item that entices her to eat. I believe she knows when it is her time.. You described her isolating from the pack that sounds like she is preparing to make her transition. I know losing a beloved dog is part of owning a beloved dog, but you have had more than your share of late. Hopefully she is not in pain and I am sure she can feel the love the two of you have for her.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that. I got one of those, too.

The cat collars with sliding tags are pretty cool, too. The kitten finally stopped wigging out, hehe.
