Rads were taken today, and her foot appears to be healing normally now. I'm very thankful, as I don't know what I'd have done, financially or decision-wise, if it wasn't. She has one less bone in her foot, I'm broke, but she's gaining a little every day. The vet seemed surprised that she'd doing as well as she is, and I'm impatient and want the 'Silly' Jilly Bean back. Her cast was removed, and another, shorter one put on.

When we got home, she went for her first real walk, out to the agility ring and back. I think I might have caught sight of a little sparkle in her eyes, but that could be wishful thinking. I showed her a slime rat today, and she wasn't impressed, so we're a long ways from normal yet. We still have her, so I'm not complainin'.

Slime rat: a little rabbit fur mouse that Jilly and Tina used to adore. The 'slime' part comes after they'd play with it.
Debbie,
Glad to hear that Jilly Bean is still improving. The vet hasn't seen her every day, correct? Then the improvements are going to be more obvious to the vet. I mean that as a good thing.

Glad she's better! I just went back and read her story, and wow! what an ordeal you and she have been through!

Correct. It's hard sometimes when you see them every day to note the changes in condition. Can't wait for her to be underfoot and acting goofy again.

Thanks! It's a relief, that's for sure.

Yes, indeed. But it's all getting better now. I realized tonight just how much better she is... I'm going to an agility trial tomorrow, and I'm not worried about leaving her home with DH.

of course you do! she's progressing, though, so even though it's slow, it'll add up over time. she'll get there.

do you think it may partially be a confidence issue? she's had her leg in a big, honkin' cast for what must seem like an eternity to her. she's not felt well and hasn't been able to do a whole lot, so it may be that she's being cautious. maybe, after she's all done with the casts, she'll have an epiphany?

It's kind of like when your child is too sick to complain. After they begin to feel well enough to be cranky you know they're on the road to recovery and you can stop worrying quite as much now.
Good news on the Jilly front! I'm glad to hear it.
