What's the longest time someone has seen a (healthy) snake go between sheds? I ask because I have a large ratsnake who is just starting a shed cycle after the 5 month anniversary of his last shed passed at the weekend. I expect some of the more lethargic boids could go longer, but this seems to be an uncharacteristically long time for a relatively active colubrid.
I had a Reticulated Python once that went for around two or three months. This was during a "hunger strike" when she refused food for almost a year. No noticeable weight loss, but I guess her metabolism had slowed enough to deter shedding somewhat. Her regular shed cycle was once a month as an adult. She usually had a bit of trouble shedding tho. Lots o' fun helping a 23 foot Retic shed her skin..lol. Thankfully, she usually calmed down & actually seemed to enjoy me helping her. If no other snake I ever own makes me feel this way, she recognized me as her keeper for the full five years I had her. Anyone else entered her room at any time..even with me...and the true Retic attitude emerged. I miss my baby!

What happened to her?
I had to sell her during my divorce. Didn't have any place to keep her for quite sometime then. I sold her to a guy that was supposedly a very responsible keeper. He had Cobras, Gaboon Vipers, and tons of other snakes, including some huge Burmese. I even checked his place out before I sold to him. Immaculate husbandry, and seemed very responsible. Well, I suppose he was used to the Burmese and their easy going temperment.

He over trusted my Retic, and she almost killed him. Luckily several of his friends were present & managed to get her off of him in time. I have no idea where she went after that. I heard once she was in Georgia, but no way of knowing for sure. And I have no idea where the guy is now to find out :-(

Ummm, if you don't mind me asking...where did this guy live at the time? I know that are a lot of people that keep similar stuff, but it sounds like a guy I know.

I'd throw in that you might want to email Frogz13 privately just in case Los Federales are monitoring this group, and he's somewhere where he ain't s'posed to have hots. Emotion: smile

Okay, I thought it would be a long shot...sounded a lot like a guy from up north who came down here some time ago and then got in trouble for having a lot of venomous and large snakes.
