how do i go about addressing the unwanted behaviours of a young blue and gold macaw?
The only way that I know of is with lots of handling. Get yourself a very thick pair of leather gloves and pick the bird up as often as possible. Let him bite, and then reward him with a treat only when he is no longer biting.
I heard that moving it and its cage to another place, meaning you're removing it from its territory, could encourage it to cooperate more since it won't be so confident and might feel like it wants security from you.

I don't know if it works with birds, but it works with cats and dogs for sure. So you could give it a try indeed. (Sorry for a slight offtopic. )
