* perhaps if Matt or someone nicer than me would rephrase my questions in a more acceptable manner, you'd see ... if it's not an attempt to humiliate her? Canine Action Dog Trainer http://www.canineaction.com My Kids, My Students, My Life: http://hometown.aol.com/dfrntdrums/myhomepage/index.html

Your time spent here, Leah, has made you much more articulate. Your points were EXACTLY what went through my mind, but never properly articulated.

And you are right, shellys every attempt is to humiliate someone. (Note I left out the apostrophe so she can correct me with her "see how STUPID you are games")
And her approach is always directed at stirring the pot, so that she can demean and dehumanize people. It's not WHAT she said, it's HOW she said it. And since she is always so willing to correct everyone ELSE's grammar, she should certainly be called on this herself.
in thread Marcel Beaudoin (Email Removed) whittled the following words:
It is my impression that it is not so much that shelly asked questions of Diana that people are having ... she asked them. To that, all I have to say is "meh". Different personalities phrase questions and comments different ways.

But shelly DEMANDS precision in communications. Where is her finesse when she sets the tone that what someone ELSE is saying suggests they are stupid and inferior.
This is rapidly turning into a tempest in a teapot scenario that is being colored, IMO, by prior interactions between regulars in here.

Supporting her barbaric statements deserves to be turned into a tempest. I'm appalled that you support her behavior.

Bingo. My comments, at least, have very little to do with the content of Diana's post, and much to do with an rpdb dynamic that I am feeling increasingly unable to tolerate.
In one of Suja's posts, she mentioned that I've caught a lot of the same kind of flak. No duh. :} So has Gwen. Certain posters are subjected to a microscopic analysis of their posts, and others aren't. I'll admit that Gwen and I both tend to sometimes speak with our hearts before our heads are fully engaged.
I've seen a lot of comments justifying shelly's condescending delivery as "her style." Well, speaking from the heart is "our style." I can't speak for Gwen, but I post because I want help in seeing all sides of an issue, especially if my view is being clouded by emotion.
What I don't want, and will no longer tolerate, is being addressed without respect. After four years here, it should be quite obvious that I'm sincere and my intentions are for the best. If you think I'm wrong, I welcome corrections. But if you do it by taking a bite out of me, I'm going to go postal on you. If you do it to others who I also believe are sincere, with good intentions, I'm also going to react.
In a way, this thread isn't fair to shelly. It appears that I'm directing all my ire at her alone, but that's just because she was the only one on the attack this time. (I think - I don't recall if there were others). And actually, her delivery was relatively mild in this instance. If this was just a one-time thing, I would have barely noticed the subtle nastiness.

But it's not just her. There are several others whose first reaction to something they disagree with is to come out swinging (and only to certain other posters). Most of these people have experience and opinions that I respect, and I do listen to what they have to say... IF I can even hear it over the slaps.
Bottom line about this thread... it could have been a great discussion without any hostility or hurt feelings. And all of the same points could have been made.
Gwen and I have both been accused of hitting "send" too quickly, before we have our facts straight. Well, let me offer the same advice to others. Read over what you write when you criticize somebody, and think about how you would feel if somebody sent the same post to you before you hit "send."

yes, precision in communication especially written communication is a good thing. and because i value it, it's ridiculous to claim that i've implied that Diana is either stupid or inferior. i've done nothing of the sort, nor would i, as that's not what i believe.
Supporting her barbaric statements deserves to be turned into a tempest. I'm appalled that you support her behavior.[/nq]it's pretty clear that you have an agenda. i'd explain the irony of that, but i don't think you'd understand it and frankly i don't have the energy to explain it to you. i expect even you will understand this, though. i hope no one ever says the sorts of things to you that you've said to me. if that's a reflection of how you truly view the world, then i pity you. i cannot imagine what it must be like to be so consumed with hate. you're poisonous.

i don't want you in my life. i'd killfile you, but that hasn't been very effective where Leah and Gwen are concerned, so i doubt it would be a satisfactory solution. i give up. it's been an interesting six years, but i guess it's time for me to go. most of you i like very much, and i'll miss you terribly. you've been an invaluable source of wisdom; your impact on my dogs' lives cannot begin to be measured. thank you.

Valium is not considered a sedation medication I do not believe.

If someone else has already corrected this, sorry. But Valium is either a sedative or a tranquilizer, can't remember which. And the benzodiazapams (sp?), of which diazapam, a/k/a Valium, is a member are used as sedative.

Perfecto! Marvelously said. Gwen

Yes,
very good Leah!
Hello fans,
I'm grooming Leah to be the voice of reason as
I transition into more of a Fred Hassen type
role. It's only natural that others will step
forward to take on the role I have played.
I have to go watch the Amazing Race now.

I even hope you don't go, and I've been your most vocal critic lately. I enjoy your stories about Elliott and Harriett. I would miss them.

Oops, I screwed up. Somewhere in this thread, I posted that valerian root worked well on me as an anti-anxiety med. I just remembered... I didn't use straight valerian root. I used a skullcap/valerian rt. combo. And IIRC, there is a difference between the properties of valerian and valerian root, so that may make discussion about it a bit more complicated.

I have another analogy of how it worked on me. Anybody ever had gas in the dentist's chair? It's not quite that dramatic, but pretty much the same effect.
