It's cold outside. Furry beast wants to sit outside. All the time. I come downstairs in the mornings when I'm working from home, and he comes running downstairs with me. And stands in front of the door. Tail wagging. Big, goofy grin on his face. After he had been sitting out for an hour or so, I ask him if he wants to come in. No sign of movement. C'mon, get in here, I say. Gets up eeever sooo slooowly, streeetches, and slowly walks in. I close the door. Then go back to the 'puter. Ordinarily, he'll just plop down or sigh and go upstairs. Not this time. He sat there. And stared. And stared. And.. I could sense him staring at me although I had my back to him. I could tell what he was thinking.
Resistance is futile. Finally gave in and let him out again. He happily went back to curling up. Has been sitting out there for the past 3 hours. I go up to ask him if he wants to come in. And I get "The Look".
Think HarCo makes something that would work against doggie mind control?

Are you sure he isn't a cat in disguise?

Hmmm. He's certainly fastidious enough to be one. Maybe he's Borg/Cat and not GSD/Mal as we had thought. 'splains a lot, now that I think about it.

If only they could overcome their initial reactions to each other (You're a BOY! I HATE you!) and get to sniff each other better, they'd find out that they're a lot alike. Too bad there's no cure for Hate at First Sight.

This one's probably cussing me out and complaining about how he's forced to live in a heated house when it's nice and cold outside.

Doesn't say that it works against doggie mind control, though. If he's really a Borg/Cat, maybe it will be effective. Have you tried it with either Mr. Perfect or Ms. Bossy Pants?

i guess it's true that you don't tend to like people who are just like yourself, eh?

or, like elliott, sighing and looking pointedly at the door, then at me, then at the door, then at me...

well, Mr. Perfect is perfect, so his mind control ray is also perfect. it (the beanie) works pretty well against Little Miss Bossy Pants, though. then again, she's got an itty bitty brane, so her mind control ray prolly is kinda wimpy.

You get "The Look?" Dylan has The Look perfected! Sometimes I invite her in just to see The Look. She'd spend all day and all night outdoors in cool and cold weather, if we'd allow her to. When I insist that she come indoors, her behavior is much like Khan's (the slow stretch, the reluctant walk, several turns of head to see what she's missing). But she doesn't stare afterwards. She gives it maybe three minutes, walks over to the door, and starts to woof. Softly, with escalating loudness until I get up and let her escape the indoor tropics for her long-coated heaven.

lol Rusty's so different from your dog!!! As soon as it starts to get cold out, I get The Look also, but it's because he's saying "you mean you want me to go out in THAT??" Rusty is a beautiful weather dog. If there's beautiful weather, he'll go out and play happily. He's far too good to get wet or dirty in the rain and far to important to put HIS little feet in the snow. As soon as the first snow falls, we have to shovel a path through the snow for him so that he'll make it to the grass instead of going on the patio that separates our house from our lawn.
