My second clutch of cornsnake eggs is dimpling. Whee, more babies to feed! And I haven't even gotten all of the first ones eating yet. grumble
I'm going to have to cut down on the number of snakes I've got. I set out a batch of rodents to that today, and it includes 2 large rats, 16 adult mice, 4 hoppers, 2 medium fuzzies, 10 small fuzzies, and 15 pinkies. Ouch, my pocketbook!

Try having 53 breeding snakes!
I don't have them any longer, but I at one time, I too was spending a lot on feeders.
Now since I started with monitors, the cost is down by 90%.

However, I do miss my snakes. My Dumeril Boas were my favorite, even the wacko gigantic female I had. She was a great breeder, but she would attack anything as if it was food. Which included my hand a few times. I sold my breeders to a friend and big momma boa bit him with such force, she broke his baby finger.
You will find breeding snakes is NOT a money making proposition.

Take Care!

Thanks!
Yeah, I don't intend to do more than get a little money back to cover some of the cost of keeping the adults. I'm going to slim down my collection of corns to my favorite individuals, and identical morphs.

Heh, I've got a pair of Argentine boas that are pretty wacko. too. The male has started to strike the glass on one side when I pass, I think it's because I added a small cage with a heat lamp on the other side of the walkway. I need to cover that end of the tank. I get tired of hearing whack as I pass, and I know he's not happy smashing his mouth into a wall. :-/ The female gets overeager for food. She knows when I've got rodents in the room, and sometimes I have to use an improvised shield to deflect her. I always take them out to feed in bins.

As crazy as some snakes can be, you've just got to love em!!!

My old boa constrictor rarely strikes the glass when I'm working next to her, but when anyone else goes near the tank and she's hungry, *WHACK!* You would think she'd learn, but I still always feel sorry for her when she tries to break her face.

Yikes!
I've decided to sell my striped kingsnake to a friend in Oregon, because she's been nagging me to sell him to her for 5 months! She fell in love with him at the Hillsboro Unique Animal Expo. So I guess I'm cutting down on my snake numbers, too...
AND the bad news, I lost 2 snakes and one lizard in the heat wave we had week before last, due to a stupid schedule change for me so I wasn't home to monitor temps like I usually am. My thermometer recorded temps of 109 in my herp room that day. I lost the baby ringed python, the california king and the water dragon. Emotion: sad

Down to only 11 snakes...

Awww, I'm sorry.
Have you managed to get the window in the room open? I know somebody who's selling a window AC unit for cheap, if you want it. I hope the rest of the herps are doing well!

No, because it's got a big crack in it. I AM able to keep the ambient temp around 74 via fans and the back door now... it's rigged up pretty comfortably.
