My BE2
Today I stepped outside my house with him not realising that he could already fly again.
I had some workers building a shed and the hammering spooked him. I live in the woods and he flew off and headed to the trees. I spotted him in a pretty low branch when I got there and reached for him. He flew this time I watched him till he went out of sight. I was not understanding, Why does he not want me to help him. I was about to cut my losses and I decided I needed to try to find him again.
This time I found him on the ground When I got there He had one foot lifted in the pick me up position and I grabbed him. He stuffed his head in my coat and hid all the way home. After that he only wanted to hide his head in my hand like an osterich so he could feel safe. I `m pretty sure he did not want to get away from me but he was not sure If I would take him close to the hammering if I picked him up. We had the wings clipped within minutes. I learned a huge lesson today as I watched my bird fly away and I was really lucky to get him back.
P.S there was no way to lure him back with his cage. Not sure why I posted this other then to hopefully to remind you to pay attention to your surroundings and your little buddies Take Care

You posted it because you got scared you'd lost your bird! I'm glad you did; others should take lessons from this. And I'm glad Billy came back. The big, outdoors can be very scary.

I for one am most glad you posted it. For anyone who has lost a bird, it's a great thing to prevent it for others in the future.
