My cat has in just a few weeks managed to scratch the hair off her lower back and there are sores. It is not mange and I see her bite it. Any suggestions? Thanks

Probably allergies. You should talk with your vet and get her looked at. When it gets that bad those sores could get infected so you will need some antibiotics and maybe a steroid shot. You definitely need a plan to find out what is bothering her.

I second this. Ask your vet to refer you to a dermatologist. They were wonderful in helping me with my dog, who has the same problem. Emotion: smile

Or might be impacted anal glands. The discomfort can make them bite and pull hair out of someplace nearby that they can reach. Mine pulled a bald patch on his thigh when he had that problem several years ago.
