I live in the country and my cat is left to roam free amoungst the fields, although i think this is great for the cat it is not so great for the animals around it. It brings home, dead birds, rabbits, moles and mice. I know it is only doing what it believes is right, but it is very upsetting to find these dead animals on my doorstep.

Actually, it's quite an honour to receive these little presents as it means the cat is trying to share it's food with you but, if you don't like it, I don't think there's anything you can do about it to be honest. Our cats used to bring half dead animals into the house and then proceed to torture them to death. Nature's cruel and that's just the way cats are. Short of keeping the cat in all the time, there's no way to take the hunting instinct out of the cat as far as I know.

You're lucky to have the pest control. Our neighborhood used to have
3 outdoor cats but they've all left and now I'm having terribleproblems with indoor mice.

(g).. Do you not have your own cat/cats to take care of them?

I have indoor cats. We live 10 yards from a highway, so I'm not willing to let my cats outdoors.
have you tried a collar with a bell?

Hi ,
You could try limiting the times you're cat is allowed out. Cats tend to catch more prey from dawn to dusk but it sounds like you have a real hunter on your hands. I wonder how s/he catches the moles? Alison
I can't wait to get the cat litter and scratch-trained. There's at least one mouse creeping around here.
Traps haven't got it yet, but I know Lucy will.

Its not what I meant. Don't they hunt inside the house? You did say the mice were indoors no?
I have two good hunters but I still have to put traps in those hard to reach areas. If it triggers, my male cat is the first one to check it out.
