My Dog, All Of A Sudden, Will Not Go Down The Cellar Stairs?

My 14 month old Springer all of a sudden will not go down the cellar stairs. They are carpet and he has done it for all this time and just started wineing at the top of the stairs and will not go down. Comes up fine. He has not fallen etc.
