2 weeks ago we've bought some mice and last evening I've noticed that two ofthem were highly gravid, so I put both in single cages. This afternoon the first gave birth to aprox. 10 (still haven't counted). I took the nestbox (without the mother) out of the cage and put in one of my not eating corn hatchlings. 5 minutes and a pinky was gone. I proceeded with the other hatchlings, one after the other, with the final result that 4 of 5 ate. 2 of them striked toward a second pinky, too. So now the big step from force feeding to self eating is done, I think. Bubblehead (the last one) hopefully will follow.

Thats fantastic news!! Its great when they start eating - long may it continue.
Are you going to let the mice have another lots or two..? I think the cycle is about every 3 weeks...
Keep us posted how your hatchlings get on!

I am SO glad. It's amazing how much I worry about whether your snakes eat.
It's probably because it upsets you and Clara and me about as much when we can't get ours to eat.

Who doesn't eat will be fed. It's only time consuming and as long as they don't eat I can't sell them.

That's true, especially because they're allready 2 months old. I don't know if I'll have other pinkies, the mice are all female. Depends if they met a male before I got them. I'll see.

It would be easy to get a male mouse to get things going! ;o) I did keep mice for a short while but I was spending more time trying to keep them sorted than I was with the snakes and mice do have a bit of a pong!

As soon as the pet store will have males I'll buy one. My recources of mice are very limited since I broke off with my usual breeder.

Live pinkies... a luxury! Hopefully I won't have any non-eaters from this new set I brought home. Its almost feeding day.

It happens 3 or 4 times a year that I've live pinkies. And this time it's a real bummer, in the meanwhile other two clutches of mice (right concept?) arrived. Woohoo!
