I've decided to start using a generic Novalsan-like (chlorhexidine diacetate) antiseptic for cleaning reptile & amphibian cages, but have noticed some online stores also sell chlorhexidine gluconate. Are these two substances equally safe and effective for herp enclosures?

Thanks,
Ray

Yep. There's some difference in color consistency, IIRC, but other then that there is no difference in efficacy or safety. I've used both (with birds, admittedly, although I don't think that's an issue) with no problem.
