Yesterday I found my oldest female PTS on the floor of her cage with one eye gunked shut. She was going vertical (hard to explain - here's a picture from last time she did it:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?P34422C5A ), and appeared to be spitting up saliva or stomach fluids. She's also pretty emaciated, looking very bony around the hips. I guess I've not been diligent in the last 3 weeks or so in actually checking her out visually. The food has been disappearing, and feces have been appearing regularly, so I figured all was well. I guess it was just the male eating. :(

So last night she was moved to a hospital tank, temp and humidity increased to top end of range. This morning she seems active, her eye looks better after being cleaned up, and she is drinking water. I'd like to get some calories into her ASAP, since she's not eating. Anyone know if Nutrical or a similar product is available at stores somewhere? I wouldn't even begin to know where to look, and I'd like to pick some up today.
Thanks all, and I'll let you know how the vet visit goes once I can get one.
On a positive note - I'm using one of the temp alarms I just bought on the hospital tank. It's incredibly handy since I didn't have time to set the cage up in advance to make sure temps were alright. This morning the alarm beeped to tell me the cage was getting too hot. I was able to move the lamps immediately to regulate the temp better. Yea!
Call the Petco on Connecticut Ave, 3500 block I think. They should have it. The one in Weymouth, MA stocks Nutrical for dogs, which is the one I use.
Cheers,
Kurt

Thanks Kurt. I did just get her to eat a few bites of banana and some pothos leaves, so I'm feeling encouraged. Now I'm on my way out the door to get the Nutrical.

P.S. - If I remember correctly, you were actually with me when I bought this girl! What was that, 7 or 8 years ago? She's getting to be an old lady.

Okay. Took me a minute. Reptile show in NH you did with me when you were a Director with NEHS.
Bought the PTS from a vendor exhibiting there.
Approximately six years ago (???).
btw, that PetCo was a really clean store with well-maintained animals. Had a couple o' wobbly pops w/ my brother in law afterwards up the street at the 4P's (grin).

Some feed stores carry it, and most vets do also.
Good luck!!!
