Hi,
noticed some articles on life spans averaging around 12 y for labs. Oddly I've had 3 that at least made 16.

One is now 16 and aside from needing a piddle pad and mild arthritis - controlled- just fine (ecg good, blood chemistry smack dab perfect, no internal masses -- we monitor periodically). Sammie my previous lab made it to 18 and 4 months and before that Shadow died suddenly at 16.5 during surgery for intestinal blockage from eating two pairs of nylons.

Has anyone looked into the genetics or other factors?
