there's definitely something to be said for that. i imagine (hope!) the that the dog will pick up manners by osmosis.

yeah, i hoped that about Manu...
instead, i think Lola getting dumb by osmosis.

I've known a handful of dogs that were sent away to be "trained". The owners generally wonder why it is the dog did so well with the trainer, but not with them. I wish someone would tell them that this is a team effort.

this is why i like my trainer. she doesn't train dogs. she trains dog owners.

It was pretty sad as it basically looked unharmed. I really don't think the lab did anything to the bird and I am sure she didn't jump mid air and grap her out of the sky flying.

Gwen, birds are freakishly sensitive to stress. Chances are that being in the lab's mouth freaked it out sufficiently to cause it to go into cardiac arrest, or it was already ill, which lowers stress tolerance even more.

Cardinals who fly into windows and are on the ground dazed, are known to give themselves heart attacks when approached by a well-meaning rescuer.

Indeed Abby, I believe that to be a high possibility. Not to mention me holding
it.
