lacerations from the claws (clothing helps a lot). If you try to restrain a nervous iguana, it will try to ... they are usually shallow. Again, clothing helps, in the form of long sleeved shirts, jackets, or sweaters in this case.

Heh. When I had my ig I constantly had lacerations on my wrists from trying to handle him. I actually had several strangers tell me that if I really wanted to kill myself I should cut parallel, not perpendicular to my arm. Go figure.

I have actually been working on the boys about taking two back (as suggested by Z), and we'll do that ... one male, we could all concentrate on spending time with the one and making it a part of the family.

Good choice. I like Julian's (?) idea too of trading all 3 in for a bearded dragon. I think you'd all be much happier. But at least you've convinced them to take back at least 2 of the monsters-in-training.

them themselves

thing about Havent most people bought on impulse?

Buy a candy bar on impuse, buy a bobblehead on impulse, but an ANIMAL?

yes, i worked in my mates shop the other week(dont sell Igs or Burms) and people wanted to buy on impulse, 'ooh thats cute, how much..what is it?'
it does seem that the shop person aid they were ... the main reason i rescue them, as people dont know,

With access to the internet there's no excuse for not knowing.

true, but check out several sites not just one
and the fact a untamed Ig is a aggressive animal that needs exp and lots of clothing, even then your still at risk.

I actually started showing people Iguanas and the reason NOT to buy them, if people knew and read up, got a few peoples opinions and knew the hard work, but i see staff giving bad advice.
Know what your taking on, pity i never did that before i most of the girls i have been with

I know people are like that, and I think it's sickening.

Staff that give out bad care advice should be fired on the spot.

They didn't have any more bearded dragons... all they had left wereleopard geckos (?) (leopard something) and two chamelons - ... will give you some size perspective. The iguana on the right is the one we are planning to keep. ~Julie

You don't have that hot rock plugged in, do you?

Just to clarify the reason I asked about the hot rock was that I was hoping you didn't have it plugged in. Looks nice as a "Cage decoration" though if it's not.

everyone has made impulse buys, i just wish iguanas werent the ones so often bought. i get all my info from www.iguanaden.com and www.myiguana.com has some good diet information even tho the pic on the mainpage is kinda rediculous. i dont trust melissa kaplans site anapsid.org and neither do some good friends of mine who are breeders and have been into reptiles alot longer then i have. i try to give out the correct info to people interested in green iguanas at work but its hard sometimes because people just ignore you and do what they want.

i wanna open up my own reptile rescue some day so i can help those poor iguanas being abandoned and neglected. one baby iguana needs atleast a 55 gallon tank to get a proper thermal gradient and they need to be up high because they are arboreal and feel comfortable. under tank heaters are by far better then hot rocks but they need to be hooked up to a light dimmer or rheostat so you can control how hot they get and they are safter that way. the iguana needs a basking area and a uvb bulb Reptisun 5.0 for iguanas is i find best.

the sites can better help you. i hate the way your sales person is. iguanas are the worst pet for children because they can be super dangerous. it angers me that most petshops are like that.
